Florida Drenched: Weeks of Rain Ahead!
7 Oct
Summary
- Several inches of rain expected across Florida through the end of the week.
- Coastal storm brings flood threat and rip current risk to First Coast.
- Flash flood threat remains for parts of Florida through Thursday.

Florida is set to experience several inches of rainfall through the end of the week, with some regions expecting over 5 inches by Thursday. A coastal storm has developed off the northeastern Florida coast, bringing a heightened risk of coastal flooding and dangerous rip currents to the First Coast.
A Level 1 out of 4 flash flood threat is active across parts of the Florida Panhandle and from North to Central Florida. This prolonged wet weather is fueled by a slow-moving cold front that has stalled over the state since Monday.
While saturated conditions exist, Florida's terrain is expected to keep flash flooding primarily in urban and poorly drained areas. The stationary front is anticipated to move north by Thursday, bringing another day of heavy rain before eventually moving out to sea as Tropical Depression Nine begins to track northeast across the Gulf. Wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph are expected along the immediate coastline, and the St. Johns River is likely to overflow. Despite the downpours, this rainfall is beneficial as much of the state remains under moderate drought conditions.
