Florida's Fall Preview: Cooler Temps Arrive This Weekend
24 Sep
Summary
- Overnight low temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 60s.
- Winds will increase, making for a possibly breezy Friday.
- A high rip current risk and surf advisory are in effect for Friday.

A weather front moving through the Treasure Coast is set to bring cooler overnight temperatures, offering a preview of fall. Beginning Friday, Sept. 24, after the front passes, overnight lows are predicted to drop into the low 70s on Sept. 25, reaching the upper 60s on Sept. 26 and Sept. 27. While daytime highs will remain in the mid-80s through Sept. 27, the decrease in humidity is expected to make the region feel like it's experiencing its first cold front of the season.
This shift in weather will also bring increased winds, with Friday, Sept. 25, potentially being breezy with speeds of 15-20 mph and gusts up to 25-30 mph. Beach safety is a concern, as a high rip current risk and a high surf advisory of 5-8 feet will be in effect for Sept. 25. Visitors are warned of rough and choppy water conditions and advised to heed red flags and swim near lifeguards.
This cooler weather, however, will be short-lived. Temperatures are expected to rise again by mid- to late next week, returning to the upper 80s with lows in the upper 70s. While autumn officially began on Sept. 22, bringing a gradual decrease in rain and humidity, hurricane season continues until Nov. 30.
