The National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for numerous areas, emphasizing the need for preparation as water levels are expected to rise. Albuquerque Fire Rescue highlighted that flash floods are the primary cause of weather-related fatalities in the U.S., resulting in approximately 140 deaths each year. Furthermore, flooding surpasses all other severe weather events in terms of economic damage, with an average annual cost of $5 billion.

Driving through flooded roads is strongly discouraged due to the potential for hidden depths and washed-out roadbeds, which can trap vehicles.
