Ex-Hurricane Erin to Bring Hazardous Waves up to 16ft to UK
21 Aug
Summary
- Erin could bring waves up to 16ft to the British Isles
- Wet and windy weather, including thundery showers, expected in the UK
- Temperatures could reach 24-25°C in parts of the UK this weekend

According to the latest update from the Met Office, the remnants of Hurricane Erin are expected to bring potentially dangerous conditions to the British Isles next week. Forecasters warn that the ex-hurricane could generate waves as high as 16 feet, posing a significant hazard for coastal areas and holidaymakers.
The wet and windy weather is expected to arrive in the UK on Wednesday, with thundery showers worsening on Thursday and Friday as the impact of Erin is felt. However, the current weather outlook for this weekend is much more pleasant, with temperatures forecast to reach around 24-25°C in some parts of the country, from the south of England up to the east of Scotland.
Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan stated that it is still too early to predict which specific regions will see the strongest winds and heaviest rainfall, but he emphasized that the weather will become more changeable and less hot as Erin's influence is felt. The large swell generated by the ex-hurricane could lead to waves of up to 4-5 meters in height, particularly along the western coasts of Scotland and Ireland.
