14 Feb
Summary
- High UV radiation expected between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- Outdoor workers and vulnerable groups are at high risk.
- Schools advised to ensure water, ventilation, and limit outdoor activities.

As temperatures climb, the District Disaster Management Authority has issued a critical alert concerning escalating mercury levels. Residents are cautioned about intense Ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure, particularly between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Prolonged direct sunlight during these peak hours should be avoided to prevent heat-related illnesses and skin damage.
The advisory specifically identifies high-risk populations, including outdoor laborers, construction and road workers, farmers, MGNREGS workers, and street vendors. Individuals frequently outdoors such as fishermen, traffic police, delivery personnel, and media professionals are also urged to take extra precautions. Tourists, bikers, and those with pre-existing medical conditions are also part of this vulnerable group.
Educational institutions have received specific instructions to safeguard students. Mandates include ensuring access to clean drinking water and maintaining proper ventilation in classrooms and examination halls. Schools are directed to cancel outdoor assemblies and physical education sessions during the afternoon. Furthermore, students may be exempted from wearing ties and socks to mitigate the effects of the extreme heat.
