Delhi Drenched: April Sees Coolest Day in 3 Years
8 Apr
Summary
- Delhi's maximum temperature dropped to 28.8°C, the coolest April day in three years.
- Intermittent rainfall, overcast skies, and strong winds caused the significant temperature dip.
- The weather pattern is attributed to prevailing western disturbances affecting Northwest India.

Delhi recorded its coolest April day in three years on Tuesday, as the maximum temperature fell to 28.8 degrees Celsius, a notable 6.3 notches below normal. This cool spell was accompanied by intermittent rainfall, an overcast sky, and strong winds.
Prevailing western disturbances are identified as the cause for this sharp temperature decrease. India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted two successive western disturbances to affect Northwest India during the week.
Adjoining areas like Noida and Gurgaon also experienced rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. The IMD forecasts similar conditions for Wednesday, with maximum temperatures likely between 27-29 degrees Celsius and minimums between 16-18 degrees Celsius.
Day temperatures are expected to remain below normal across most of Northwest, Central, and East India for the next five days. The weather is anticipated to clear from Thursday onwards, with Delhi's day temperature expected to rise to 30-32 degrees Celsius.
