Delhi Chills as Rain Threatens, AQI Dips
31 Jan
Summary
- Minimum temperature dropped to 6.7°C, 1°C below normal.
- Light rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds are forecast.
- Air quality remains poor, expected to worsen.

As of Saturday, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 6.7°C, which was 1°C below the usual for this time of year. This marked a significant drop from the previous day's 7.7°C. However, an increase in minimum temperatures to 11-13°C is anticipated for Sunday due to persistent cloud cover.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Saturday and Sunday, forecasting rain until Monday. This is attributed to the third western disturbance impacting the region this month. Residents can expect intermittent light rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph.
Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality continues to be a concern, registering in the poor category. The Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 278 on Saturday morning, a worsening from Friday's 24-hour average of 253. Projections indicate a further decline into the very poor category from Saturday through Monday, with the outlook suggesting sustained poor to very poor air quality for the following six days.
