Light rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, occurred across various parts of Delhi on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for several districts, including North West Delhi and South West Delhi, warning of potential hail within the next three hours.
Several areas recorded rainfall, with Palam logging 3.4 mm and Ridge 3.0 mm between 8:30 am and 11:30 am. Orange alerts were issued for North East Delhi and East Delhi, advising residents to stay prepared for adverse conditions. The maximum temperature is predicted to fall to approximately 19 degrees Celsius, a significant drop from previous conditions.
The weather office forecast generally cloudy skies with spells of rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. Gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph are expected, along with isolated heavy showers. This wet spell is reminiscent of January 23, when Delhi last experienced significant January rainfall, leading to a sharp dip in temperatures.
