The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts thunderstorms, lightning, and light rain for Delhi-NCR over the upcoming two days. Partly cloudy skies are expected on June 25, with a higher chance of thunderstorm activity developing in the afternoon and evening. Maximum temperatures will likely remain between 38°C and 40°C, with minimums around 26°C to 28°C.
From June 26 to June 27, the capital region may see very light to light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and dust storms. Favorable conditions are also noted for the Southwest Monsoon's advance into Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand within the next three to six days.
Isolated to scattered rainfall is anticipated across Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab from June 25-26 and again from June 29-30. Similar patterns are expected for Uttar Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to receive widespread rainfall on June 29 and 30.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast along the west coast, Northeast India, and parts of West Bengal and Sikkim throughout the week. Extremely heavy rainfall is specifically predicted for Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on June 27 and 28. Isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds of up to 60 kmph are also warned for Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Conversely, heatwave conditions are expected to persist over East Uttar Pradesh for the next four to five days. Similar heatwave conditions are likely in northeast Madhya Pradesh and Bihar for the next two to three days. The IMD has also issued advisories for fishermen, cautioning them against venturing into several parts of the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea due to adverse weather.
