Rainfall Brings Relief to Delhi-NCR; Temperatures to Drop
7 Apr
Summary
- Yellow alert issued for April 7-8 with strong winds and thunderstorms.
- Temperatures expected to drop 2-3°C due to western disturbance.
- Delhi's air quality remains in the moderate category.

Rain lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Tuesday morning, offering respite from rising temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for April 7 and 8, predicting strong winds, cloudy skies, rain, and isolated thunderstorms. One or two spells of rain or thunderstorms are anticipated over these two days.
This weather change is attributed to an active western disturbance, expected to increase wind speeds and lower temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius across the NCR. Minimum temperatures on April 7 are projected around 20°C, with a maximum of 31°C, potentially dropping further to 18°C on April 8.
Delhi's air quality remained in the 'moderate' category with an AQI of 134 on Tuesday and is expected to stay so until April 9. Partly cloudy skies are forecast for April 9, with weather clearing by April 10 and 11, leading to a gradual rise in temperatures.
