Delhi Heatwave Alert: Holi to hit 34°C!
27 Feb
Summary
- Delhi to experience temperatures 4-5°C above normal.
- Holi on March 4th could see temperatures reaching 34°C.
- February has been unusually warm and dry this year.

Delhi is bracing for unseasonably high temperatures over the next few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts maximum temperatures will remain 4-5 degrees Celsius above normal, potentially reaching 34°C by March 4th, coinciding with the Holi festival. Daytime temperatures are forecast to hover between 30°C and 32°C until March 2nd, rising to around 33°C on March 3rd.
This warm spell follows a notably hot and dry February. Except for two days, maximum temperatures consistently remained above average throughout the month. The IMD has indicated that while a weak western disturbance may affect the western Himalayas from March 2nd, it is unlikely to bring significant weather changes or rainfall to Delhi's plains.
Night temperatures are also expected to rise gradually, reaching between 15°C and 17°C by Holi. Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality has recently improved to the 'moderate' category after a prolonged period of 'poor' air quality, though it may revert to 'poor' over the weekend.
