15 Jun
Summary
- Maximum temperature forecast to reach 44°C by the weekend.
- Light rain and thunderstorms expected on Monday afternoon and Saturday.
- Humidity led to a high heat index, with wet bulb temperature at 26.07°C.

Delhi is anticipating a sharp increase in temperatures, with forecasts indicating a peak of 44°C by the upcoming weekend. This heatwave is expected to persist despite intermittent weather activity.
Scattered light rain and thunderstorms are predicted for Monday afternoon and evening, as well as on Saturday. Thunderstorms may also occur on Tuesday afternoon, with partially clouded skies expected throughout the week. This pattern follows a brief respite from recent rainfall.
Experts attribute the rising temperatures, even with thunderstorms, to the isolated nature of the weather activity and ongoing northwesterly winds. Widespread rain is not anticipated across northwestern India, allowing for a gradual temperature climb.
The city recently experienced high humidity, leading to a considerable heat index, or 'feels-like' temperature. On Sunday, the wet bulb temperature was recorded at 26.07°C. Minimum temperatures are also on the rise, expected to reach between 30°C and 32°C by Saturday, exceeding normal June averages.
In contrast to the heat, the city recorded its cleanest air quality day since September 5 of the previous year on Friday, with an average AQI of 73.
