The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Thursday, January 8, 2026, predicting moderate fog with dense fog in isolated areas during morning hours. Minimum temperatures in the national capital are expected to fall further, potentially reaching 6 degrees Celsius, while maximums hover between 15-17°C.
Similar conditions are anticipated for Noida, with dense fog and temperatures around 15°C (max) and 8°C (min). Gurugram, however, is predicted to have mainly clear skies with temperatures around 14°C (max) and 9°C (min). These weather patterns contribute to severe cold wave conditions across the Delhi-NCR region.
The cold is projected to intensify over northern India until January 15, 2026. Moderate to dense fog is expected to prevail across the Indo-Gangetic Plain for the next five to seven days, with cold day conditions likely in northwest and east India.
