Delhi Braces for Arctic Chill: Temps to Plummet to 6°C!
29 Jan
Summary
- Minimum temperature expected to drop to 6-9 degrees Celsius.
- Moderate to dense fog alert issued for Thursday morning.
- Rain and thunderstorms predicted for the weekend.

New Delhi is bracing for a sharp drop in temperatures, with the minimum likely to fall between 6-9 degrees Celsius over the next two days. This cold snap follows a change in wind direction to northwesterly, bringing colder air from snow-capped mountains. Light rain on Tuesday helped improve air quality, but it is expected to remain poor and potentially worsen over the coming days.
Moderate to dense fog is anticipated for Thursday morning, according to a yellow alert issued by the India Meteorological Department. The maximum temperature has also been below normal. Looking towards the weekend, another western disturbance is expected to bring cloudy skies from Saturday afternoon, with a chance of light rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds up to 40 kmph by Saturday night. Further spells of light rain are predicted for Sunday.
