Delhi Chokes Under Worsening Air Pollution Ahead of Winter

As of October 29th, 2025, Delhi's air quality has taken a turn for the worse, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching "very poor" levels. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board, the AQI was 272 at 10 am on Wednesday, and the 24-hour average AQI was 292 on Tuesday at 4 pm.
The Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS) for Delhi has predicted that the air quality will remain in the "very poor" zone throughout this week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also forecasted cloudy skies and a potential mist formation in the late afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday.
Furthermore, the mercury is expected to rise to 29°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to dip further in the coming days. This combination of factors is expected to exacerbate the already dire air pollution situation in the city.
