The western disturbance is primarily impacting the mountains, resulting in fresh snowfall. This will lead to cold northwesterly winds blowing towards the plains starting from Friday night. The lowest minimum temperature recorded so far this season was 15.8°C on October 26, and the upcoming dip is expected to bring temperatures below 15°C for the first time.
The return of the cold northwesterly winds is also anticipated to negatively affect Delhi's air quality index (AQI), as they typically transport stubble smoke from the neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana.
