Delhi Air Quality Dips, Temperatures Rise Amid Shifting Weather
30 Sep
Summary
- Delhi's air quality deteriorated to the 'moderate' category.
- Minimum temperature rose slightly after an unusually cold Tuesday morning.
- Weather system weakening, allowing temperatures to increase in Delhi-NCR.
Delhi's air quality has deteriorated into the 'moderate' category on Wednesday, with temperatures starting to rise as a low-pressure weather system over Uttar Pradesh dissipates. The city's Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded 107 at 9 am, marking a significant increase in pollution.
This comes after several days of satisfactory air quality, attributed to recent windy conditions and rainfall. However, reduced rainfall and increasing temperatures are now linked to a gradual rise in pollution levels across the National Capital Region.
The minimum temperature at Safdarjung recorded 22.4°C on Wednesday, slightly above the previous day's 21°C, which was Delhi's second-coldest September morning in 25 years. This warming trend is expected to continue.
Forecasters predict mainly clear skies for Delhi, with maximum temperatures anticipated to reach 33-35°C on Wednesday. The dry weather is expected to persist through the weekend, with daytime temperatures likely to hover around 34°C on October 1 and 2.
