Delaware Heat Wave: Feel 100 Degrees Soon?
4 Aug
Summary
- Heat index values may reach 100 degrees by Friday and Saturday.
- Hotter and more humid weather will return starting Wednesday.
- Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Wednesday through Saturday.

Delaware will experience a return of hot and humid summer weather later this week. Following a brief period of comfortable conditions, temperatures and humidity levels are set to rise starting Wednesday. By Friday and Saturday, the heat index could reach around 100 degrees Fahrenheit in some areas.
The shift in weather is attributed to a warm front moving into the region and a Bermuda High developing over the Atlantic. This pattern is expected to bring hotter and more humid air to the entire state, from Wilmington to the beach communities.
While the heat intensifies, scattered showers and thunderstorms are also predicted from Wednesday through Saturday, primarily in the afternoons and evenings. These storms may bring heavy downpours, but widespread severe weather is not currently expected.
The elevated temperatures and humidity are forecast to continue into early next week, with potential for widespread 90-degree days across parts of the Northeast.
