A significant fall storm has impacted Colorado, bringing much colder air and widespread rain to the Denver metro area, alongside heavy snow in the mountains. As of Wednesday morning, precipitation has been recorded across numerous communities, with more expected throughout Wednesday afternoon and night. Snow levels are predicted to drop to around 7,000 feet by Thursday morning, with accumulations of several inches possible at higher elevations.
Travel in the mountains may be affected by snow and slick roads from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning, prompting the season's first Winter Weather Advisory. Lingering rain is possible along the I-25 corridor and eastern plains on Thursday morning before the storm system weakens and moves east. Colder overnight temperatures are anticipated for Thursday night into Friday morning, potentially bringing the first freeze to much of the eastern plains.
