Christmas Day Wind Warning Issued by Met Office

A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued by the Met Office, effective from 4am on Christmas Day until 11:59pm. East to northeasterly winds are expected to become particularly strong and gusty throughout the day.

Forecasters anticipate peak gusts widely reaching 45-55 mph. Exposed coastal areas and locations west of prominent hills could experience even higher gusts, between 55-65 mph. The unusual wind direction is a cause for concern.

This weather event carries the potential for disruption to transport networks and power supplies. Additionally, large waves are predicted to create a significant hazard along some coastlines.
