China's National Meteorological Center has issued yellow alerts for both rainstorms and severe convective weather. The warnings signal potential for torrential rainfall, strong winds capable of causing damage, and the possibility of tornadoes across significant parts of the nation.
Specific areas, including Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Guangdong provinces, and the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, are anticipated to receive between 100 to 180 millimeters of rain from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon. This system is also expected to produce short, intense downpours with hourly precipitation rates reaching 40 to 60 millimeters, and in some isolated locations, exceeding 80 millimeters.
Further alerts are in place for thunderstorms in northern China and areas south of the Yangtze River. Provinces such as Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, and Henan could experience winds gusting over 89 kilometers per hour. Looking ahead, the forecast indicates the development of two to three tropical cyclones in the northwestern Pacific and the South China Sea within the next ten days, with one potentially affecting southern China around July 27.
