12 Jul
Summary
- National Meteorological Center issued multiple weather alerts Sunday evening.
- Heavy rainfall, strong winds, and mountain flood risks are expected.
- Tropical Storm Bavi weakened but continues to impact Anhui province.

As of Sunday evening, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) issued comprehensive weather alerts forecasting heavy to torrential rainfall across numerous provinces. This includes parts of Liaoning, Jilin, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, and Qinghai. The forecast indicates these conditions will persist through Monday.
Accompanying the heavy rainfall, a blue alert for severe convective weather warned of thunderstorms, gale-force winds exceeding force 8, and potential hail in several regions. These areas span parts of Northeast China, North China, and regions south of the Yangtze River.
Tropical Storm Bavi, the ninth typhoon of the year, has weakened into a tropical storm. Its center was located in Wuhu city, Anhui province, as of Sunday afternoon. Bavi is forecast to move northwest and gradually weaken, with expectations to turn northeast and move into the Yellow Sea by Tuesday.
Jointly, the Ministry of Water Resources and the China Meteorological Administration issued alerts for mountain flood disasters. An orange alert is in effect for high-risk areas in Liaoning, Jilin, Anhui, and Jiangxi. A red alert signifies a very high risk in localized areas within these provinces.
Furthermore, meteorological alerts for geological disasters were issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the NMC. Yellow, orange, and red alerts highlight varying degrees of risk for geological disasters across parts of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, and Jiangxi provinces through Monday.
