Central Florida Faces Breezy Storms: Rip Current Warning

Central Florida can expect a breezy and unsettled Wednesday as coastal showers and a few thunderstorms are pushed inland by east-northeast winds. These showers are ongoing and anticipated throughout the day, accompanied by winds of 10-20 mph and gusts reaching 25-30 mph.

While high temperatures will reach the mid to upper 80s, beachgoers must be particularly cautious. Rough surf and a high risk for life-threatening rip currents are forecast, with surf heights around 5 to 6 feet. Lifeguards should be heeded, and swimming in hazardous conditions avoided.

This windy, showery pattern is predicted to persist into Thursday. By Friday and into the weekend, the weather is expected to shift towards more characteristic sea-breeze-driven showers and thunderstorms across the region.

Meanwhile, an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms is being monitored east of Bermuda, with low chances of development. Should a tropical system form and be named, it would be the first of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, named Fay.
