Britons Brace for Hurricane Humberto's Wrath as Torrential Rains and Powerful Winds Threaten UK
30 Sep
Summary
- Severe weather warning issued for parts of western Scotland
- Remnants of hurricanes Humberto and Imelda could bring disruptive weather to northwest Europe
- Experts warn of more "swings" between wet and dry conditions due to climate change

As of September 30th, 2025, Britons are bracing themselves for a bout of stormy weather this weekend, with Hurricane Humberto expected to bring torrential rain and strong winds to the region. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of western Scotland, with the potential for 50-75mm of rain to fall from Wednesday evening through Friday morning, and over 100mm possible in west-facing mountains.
The complex weather situation is further complicated by the influence of tropical cyclones Humberto and Imelda, currently battering the southwest Atlantic. Meteorologists warn that the remnants of these hurricanes could sweep across the Atlantic and bring disruptive weather to northwest Europe, including the possibility of a deep low developing near the UK, which could result in very strong winds and further heavy rainfall.
