Brisbane Heatwave: Temperatures soar 8 degrees above average

South-east Queensland is bracing for a significant heatwave, with Brisbane forecast to experience temperatures 8 degrees above its September average this coming weekend. The mercury is expected to climb from Wednesday onwards, surpassing 30 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Angus Hines indicated that temperatures could reach as high as 33 degrees Celsius, maintaining a few degrees close to this maximum throughout the weekend. These conditions are described as hot and dry, impacting the broader south-east Queensland area. The average high for September in Brisbane typically hovers between 25 and 26 degrees Celsius, highlighting the unusual intensity of the predicted heat.
