Blizzard Forecast to Sweep Across Northern UK Next Month

According to the latest weather forecasts, a large blizzard is expected to hit Scotland on November 13, particularly around the areas of Inverness, Wick, and Aberdeen. The snow is predicted to fall at rates of up to 3cm per hour, building total snow depths of around 3cm to 4cm.

Southern Scotland and northern England, including Newcastle and parts of the Pennines, may also see some light snow or sleet during this period. Meanwhile, central and southern England, from Manchester and Birmingham to London, are set to stay largely cold and dry, with only a few coastal showers possible.

The Met Office's long-range forecast warns that the unsettled weather patterns are likely to continue through early to mid-November, with low pressure dominating the UK. This means further showers or longer spells of rain at times, with western areas likely to be the wettest. Strong winds are also expected, with the possibility of gales or severe gales.

However, the forecast also suggests that there should be some drier or clearer interludes, particularly further east, and these may become more widespread and long-lasting by the end of the period. Temperatures are expected to be above average, with a reduced incidence of overnight frost and fog.
