Bengaluru is bracing for a significant heatwave, with temperatures expected to reach 37°C on Friday, potentially surpassing recent records. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a maximum temperature of 37°C, with a minimum of 23°C. Residents will experience continued hot and humid weather, with humidity levels fluctuating between 50% and 70%.
The heat is not confined to Bengaluru; other regions in Karnataka are also facing severe weather conditions. Yellow and orange heatwave alerts have been issued for Kalyana and other districts like Kalaburagi, Chincholi, and Afzalpur, where maximum temperatures have already exceeded 42°C and are predicted to climb further.
While most of the state grapples with high temperatures, the IMD notes that isolated areas in Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Mysuru, and Mandya might receive light rainfall, primarily in the evenings or at night. Yellow alerts are in effect for several northern districts, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Gadag, Haveri, Dharwad, and Belagavi, indicating hot and humid conditions for the coming days.
