The most severe rainfall is anticipated for Vancouver Island, with projections of 4 to 8 inches, potentially more in some areas. Urban centers such as Seattle, Bellingham, and the Vancouver metro area face an elevated risk of flash flooding due to anticipated rapid rises in small streams and coastal rivers.
Further inland, the convergence of heavy rain and existing snowpack is a major concern. Forecasters predict an increased likelihood of avalanches, mudslides, and debris flows, particularly on the western slopes of major mountain ranges. Snow levels are expected to stay above key mountain passes, directing rainfall onto the snowpack.
