By October 28, the snowfall is forecast to intensify in northern Scotland, with flurries of up to 2cm per hour possible. The rest of Scotland, northeastern England, and parts of Northern Ireland are also expected to see heavy rain during this period. Temperatures are predicted to plummet below 0°C in some locations, with the mercury potentially reaching as low as -1°C in Inverness.
The Met Office has warned that this unsettled weather, characterized by lower temperatures and increased precipitation, is part of a "cooler and more showery" regime arriving in the UK towards the end of October.
