Summary
- Met Office releases video tracker of Storm Floris' movements
- Amber "danger to life" warning for Scotland, yellow wind warning for northern England
- Storm expected to bring travel disruption, potential bridge closures, and train/ferry cancellations

As of August 4th, 2025, the Met Office has released a video tracker revealing the path of the powerful Storm Floris, which is expected to bring significant disruption to parts of the UK. The weather service has issued an amber "danger to life" warning for Scotland, along with a yellow wind warning for northern England, as the storm is forecast to bring winds of up to 100mph.
The storm is set to sweep in from the north, with Scotland bearing the brunt of the heavy rain and strong gusts. The Met Office has warned that the conditions could lead to travel chaos, with the potential for road, air, and ferry services to be affected, as well as the closure of bridges. Several train lines in Scotland, including the Edinburgh-Fife/Perth/Dundee, Perth-Dundee/Aberdeen/Inverness, and West Highland routes, will be closed from noon on Monday, with reduced timetables and longer journey times expected on other routes.
Ferry operator CalMac has also announced a series of cancellations ahead of the storm. The Met Office's chief meteorologist, Matthew Lehnert, has cautioned that many inland areas could see gusts of 40-50mph, with 60-70mph winds more likely at higher elevations and exposed coastal regions in Scotland. There is even a small chance that some locations could record gusts of up to 85mph.
