Aiken County experienced minor damage on June 18 following a storm fueled by the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur. This system brought significant wind and heavy rainfall to the area, impacting several specific locations.
The Aiken County Department of Emergency Management identified damage in areas including Powderhouse Road, Canterbury Court, Anthony Drive, Augusta Road, and the intersection of Williston and Church roads. Early Friday morning, a downed tree and power line were reported near South Boundary Avenue and Laurens Street.
Power disruptions affected numerous residents throughout Thursday evening. Aiken Electric Cooperative reported a peak of nearly 2,500 outages. By Friday morning, most customers had their power restored. Dominion Energy also reported minimal outages within the county.
Several scheduled events for Thursday evening were canceled or postponed due to the adverse weather conditions. Amp the Alley in downtown Aiken was among the events affected by the storm's impact.
