Now, the Manipur government has appointed Chingakham's brother, Chingakham Naoba Singh, as an assistant sub-inspector in the state police department. This appointment is seen as a recognition of Deepak Chingakham's supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during Operation Sindoor, a military action against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
In addition to this, the Manipur government has also approved an enhanced ex-gratia amount of ₹10 lakh to be given to Chingakham's next of kin under the Major Laishram Jyotin Singh, Ashok Chakra (Posthumous) Ex-Gratia Scheme. This gesture underscores the state's commitment to supporting the families of fallen heroes.
