14 Aug
Summary
- 16 BSF personnel awarded gallantry medals for bravery
- Troops neutralized enemy drones, rescued injured comrades, and destroyed Pakistani posts
- BSF post named after slain Sub-Inspector Imitiyaz

On August 14, 2025, the Indian government announced that sixteen Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have been awarded gallantry medals for their exceptional bravery during Operation Sindoor, which took place earlier this year. The operation was India's successful response to a Pakistan-sponsored terror attack in Pahalgam on April 23.
The BSF troops displayed remarkable courage and resilience in the face of enemy assault. At the sensitive Kharkhola border outpost in Jammu, six personnel, including Assistant Commandant Abhishek Srivastav and Head Constable Brij Mohan Singh, engaged and neutralized enemy drones while under heavy shelling and mortar fire from Pakistani forces. Despite sustaining serious injuries, they continued to fight the enemy.
Elsewhere, Assistant Sub-Inspector Udai Vir Singh destroyed a Pakistani surveillance camera and neutralized an enemy machine gun nest, even after sustaining a life-threatening injury. Another team, led by Assistant Commandant Alok Negi, engaged in a prolonged battle at the forward defense line, ensuring operational dominance for over 48 hours.
In addition to securing the border, the BSF troops also bombed terror launchpads in Pakistan, destroyed Pakistani posts, and neutralized infiltrating terrorists during Operation Sindoor. The BSF has honored the sacrifice of Sub-Inspector Imitiyaz, who was killed in action, by naming a post in Jammu after him.
