Chinese and Russian Navies Commence Joint Maritime Exercises Near Vladivostok

As of August 3rd, 2025, the Chinese and Russian naval forces have commenced the maritime phase of their Joint Sea-2025 exercises. Earlier today, three Chinese warships and three Russian warships set sail from a military port, marking the full start of the joint drills.

After leaving the port, the vessels quickly established a mixed formation, with Chinese and Russian ships positioned together. The naval formation then headed towards the designated mission area near Vladivostok, Russia. During the transit, the Chinese and Russian vessels established communication links and exchanged information on hydro-meteorological conditions and the surrounding air and sea situations.

Prior to the deployment, a joint command center composed of personnel from both countries had organized a map-based rehearsal to plan the exercise scenarios and coordinate the forces. The drill subject plans and emergency response procedures were also revised and improved, and the teams conducted professional exchanges on topics such as underwater warfare and submarine rescue.

According to the exercise plan, the naval formation will conduct a three-day maritime drill, which will include exercises on submarine rescue, joint anti-submarine operations, air and missile defense, and overall maritime combat. The collaborative training aims to enhance the interoperability and combat readiness of the Chinese and Russian navies in the Pacific region.
