5 Mar
Summary
- WHO's global emergency logistics hub in Dubai suspended due to insecurity.
- Conflict disrupts $18 million in humanitarian health supplies.
- WHO considers alternative hubs amid ongoing regional conflict.

Operations at the World Health Organization's (WHO) global emergency logistics hub in Dubai have been suspended due to escalating insecurity in the Middle East. The conflict has jeopardized humanitarian health supply chains, halting access to $18 million in vital supplies and preventing another $8 million in shipments from reaching the hub.
The suspension affects over 50 emergency requests from 25 countries, including $6 million in medicines for Gaza and $1.6 million in polio supplies for Afghanistan and Pakistan. The WHO is discussing options with UAE authorities and exploring alternative hubs in Nairobi, Dakar, and Brindisi to establish new routes for essential medical aid.
