Civilians Hit as Ukraine-Russia Attacks Escalate
29 Apr
Summary
- Russian attacks killed at least three and injured 17 people.
- Dozens of houses, apartment buildings, and a hospital were damaged.
- Ukraine launched a drone attack on an industrial facility in Russia.

Russian forces launched attacks across Ukraine, claiming at least three lives and injuring 17 people on Wednesday. Officials reported significant damage to civilian infrastructure, including dozens of houses, apartment buildings, and a hospital in Odesa, which sustained hits to its cardiological and surgical departments. Two individuals were wounded in the southern Odesa region, while others sought shelter in hospital basements during the assault.
In the eastern Donetsk region, Russian strikes over the past 24 hours killed at least two people and wounded four, also damaging numerous residential structures and a critical infrastructure facility. The fighting prompted the evacuation of nearly 900 people, including 34 children, from the front lines. Separately, a Russian drone attack in the northeastern Sumy region killed one woman, with strikes deliberately targeting residential buildings and causing extensive fires.
Meanwhile, Ukraine conducted a drone attack on an industrial site in Perm Krai, eastern Russia. Regional Governor Dmitry Makhonin confirmed the incident, stating that workers were evacuated and no injuries were reported. These exchanges of fire occur as US-led peace efforts aimed at resolving the conflict, which began with Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, have largely been paused.
