Drones Sink Russian Ship: Piracy or War Tactic?

Overnight, two Ukrainian drones targeted and sank a civilian vessel belonging to Russia's state nuclear corporation, Rosatom, while it was sailing in the Black Sea. Alexei Likhachev, the head of Rosatom, stated that all 17 crew members aboard the ship, which was carrying goods such as frozen food and construction materials, were safely rescued. Likhachev condemned the attack, labeling it as piracy and maritime robbery.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy of Ukraine confirmed the strike on X, noting that a sanctioned Russian container ship named Yanina, with a capacity exceeding 100,000 tons, was also successfully sent to the bottom by Ukraine's Defense Forces. This incident follows a recent escalation in attacks by both Russia and Ukraine on maritime vessels, each accusing the other of supporting their respective war efforts.
