Ukraine's Navy Drones Extend Drone Reach

Ukraine has introduced a new unmanned surface vehicle designed to function as a mobile launch platform for FPV drones in combat. Developed by engineers from the Omega Special Purpose Center and a Ukrainian technology company, this maritime system enhances Ukraine's integrated approach to battlefield robotics.

The floating carrier transports FPV drones closer to enemy positions, significantly extending their operational reach without requiring them to cover the entire distance independently. Images of the platform reveal it is powered by a Japanese Suzuki engine and equipped with a satellite communications terminal for reliable contact during missions.

Beyond its primary role, developers are exploring adaptations for intercepting aerial threats, adding a new dimension to its utility. This innovation follows other Ukrainian experiments with collaborative unmanned platforms, such as heavy bomber UAVs releasing attack ground vehicles closer to Russian positions.
