18 Feb
Summary
- At least 57 civilians, including 15 children, were killed in drone attacks.
- Attacks targeted markets, displacement shelters, and primary schools.
- The UN human rights chief urged an immediate stop to civilian targeting.

The United Nations human rights chief voiced grave concern after reports indicated over 57 civilian deaths from drone strikes in Sudan within a recent two-day period. These attacks, occurring between Sunday and Monday of last week, tragically claimed the lives of at least 15 children across four Sudanese states.
The reported incidents include an alleged strike by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Al Safiya market in North Kordofan on Sunday, resulting in 28 civilian fatalities. The following day, 26 civilians died in West Kordofan at a displacement shelter due to an alleged SAF drone attack. Additionally, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were reported to have conducted drone strikes on two primary schools in Dilling, South Kordofan, on Monday.
These devastating events highlight the severe impact of drone warfare on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Sudan. The Greater Kordofan region, encompassing three states, has recently become a focal point of the ongoing conflict between the SAF and RSF, which has been raging for nearly three years, causing widespread displacement and a severe humanitarian crisis. The UN human rights chief has called for an immediate cessation of attacks on civilian objects by all parties involved.
