Qatar's foreign ministry has firmly rejected Iranian claims that strikes are not targeting civilian sites, asserting that daily missile and drone attacks persist. Spokesman Dr. Majed Al-Ansari highlighted that since the Iranian attacks began, threats to civilian targets have not ceased. He detailed that attacks have impacted LNG facilities in Ras Laffan, industrial complexes in Mesaieed, Hamad International Airport, and residential areas, with air-raid alerts sounding in Doha.
Despite a perceived decrease in intensity, Al-Ansari confirmed that attacks continue, citing five different drones used recently. He presented evidence of a recent evacuation in Doha due to a missile's trajectory threatening central residential areas, emphasizing the ongoing threat to civilians. Qatar also expressed significant gratitude for Europe's defense support, specifically mentioning the joint Qatar-Europe squadron, noting that these partnerships are vital for regional security and defense.
Al-Ansari stated that Qatar is unaware of any ongoing mediation efforts, as continuous attacks make diplomatic solutions challenging. He shared a personal reflection, hoping the region does not normalize the crisis and become accustomed to such attacks, aiming to preserve the Gulf's status as an oasis of security and stability.
