Two additional individuals were detained by French authorities as part of an investigation into a foiled bombing attempt near the Bank of America's Paris office. Officials suspect the incident is connected to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
These recent arrests follow the detention of an initial suspect, a minor, on Saturday. The anti-terrorism prosecutor's office confirmed that this minor remains in custody. The bomb was reportedly placed by young men or minors who were allegedly paid to execute the plan.
Parisian police observed two individuals placing the explosive device in front of the bank's offices on Rue de la Boétie early Saturday morning. One individual was reportedly preparing to detonate the device while the other filmed the act.
The first suspect apprehended stated that he was contacted via Snapchat and offered €600 ($690) for the task. Bank of America has acknowledged the situation and is cooperating with authorities. French officials have increased security around Jewish and US-linked sites since the start of the Mideast conflict.
