Odisha Forces Seize Large Maoist Arms Cache

Security forces in Odisha's Malkangiri district have recovered a substantial cache of weapons, explosives, and ammunition, believed to have been concealed by Maoists. The find occurred during a search operation by the District Voluntary Force (DVF) in the Guntabeda and Kadamguda forest areas, under Kalimela police limits, recently.
The recovered items include two Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), two country-made pistols, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), a Claymore mine, under-barrel grenade launcher (BGL) launchers, grenades, and 37 varieties of explosive materials. Investigators suspect these items were buried for future attacks.
This seizure represents the third major arms dump unearthed in Malkangiri this month, following discoveries on June 9 and June 15. The operation was prompted by intelligence and information from surrendered Maoists, indicating continued efforts to locate hidden stockpiles.
While Malkangiri was declared Maoist-free by March 31, security agencies continue operations to dismantle remaining extremist infrastructure. The successful recovery is a significant blow to the dwindling Maoist network in the region and aims to prevent any resurgence.
