Ukraine City Under Daily Drone Siege

Nikopol, a city in southern Ukraine, is experiencing near-constant drone attacks from Russian forces positioned just two miles across the Dnipro River. These short-range drone assaults, increasing to approximately three per hour, have forced residents to alter their daily lives significantly.

Civilians are implementing measures to avoid becoming targets, a situation locals describe as Russia's 'human safari.' Schools and kindergartens are closed, and public services like post offices and buses are frequently suspended. The city, which once had a population of 100,000, has seen approximately half of its residents depart due to the escalating danger.

In response to the persistent threat, Ukrainian cities like Nikopol are adopting innovative defense strategies. These include overhead fishing nets to trap drones and the development of city-wide warning apps. Some companies and emergency services are also utilizing portable drone detectors known as 'Chuykas.'

These adaptations are not unique to Nikopol; similar measures are being implemented in frontline cities such as Kherson and Kramatorsk. The ongoing drone warfare, with its evolving tactics and countermeasures, offers insights into future defense strategies for Western nations.
