Massive Weapons Cache Found in Manipur Raid
22 May
Summary
- Sophisticated weapons recovered from an insurgent camp in Manipur.
- Joint operation by Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, and CRPF.
- Over 60 weapons seized, including sniper rifles and RPGs.

Security forces in Manipur successfully conducted a joint operation, leading to the recovery of a significant cache of sophisticated weapons. The operation targeted an insurgent group, yielding firearms, explosives, and tactical gear.
Intelligence gathered from captured cadres of the United National Liberation Front-Pambei (UNLF-P) led to a second, more extensive raid. This subsequent operation on May 21 uncovered dozens of weapons, including advanced military-grade equipment such as sniper rifles, mortars, and an RPG-7 launcher, alongside an anti-drone jammer and substantial explosives. Earlier, 29 weapons and related materials were seized.
Reports indicate that the UNLF-P cadres were apprehended while attempting to sell looted police weapons. This group, identified as the oldest valley-based armed faction in Manipur, had signed a peace agreement in late 2023. Investigations are ongoing into the recovered arsenal and the network involved.
