Russian forces conducted a drone attack on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, late on Wednesday. The assault resulted in a fire on the roof of a hotel situated on the central Shevchenko Boulevard. Debris from the drones was discovered scattered across two districts within the city and in a northeastern suburb.
Emergency services were rapidly deployed to the hotel fire. Witnesses reported hearing explosions in the western parts of the capital. Many residents sought refuge in underground metro stations to escape the ongoing attacks.
This event followed a warning from President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who had indicated that intelligence suggested an overnight attack was probable. Consequently, he decided to cut short his stay in Dublin.
