In a significant development, Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested a cleric identified as Mohammad Rafiq Naik from the Kishtwar district. Naik is accused of providing essential logistical support and safe haven to Pakistani terrorists operating in the Chatroo area.
Naik, a cleric from the Kalasoi area mosque, allegedly served as a key ground handler for a terror group led by Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Saifullah. Investigators believe Naik's network was instrumental in sustaining Saifullah and his associates in the Chatroo forests for approximately two years, prior to their elimination by security forces.
This arrest is part of a wider operation to dismantle the support system for cross-border terrorism in Kishtwar. Police have previously apprehended Muneer Ahmed and Mashkoor Ahmed in connection with the same module, with Mashkoor allegedly providing communication and logistical aid. The investigation is actively pursuing multiple leads to identify and arrest other overground workers associated with the network, aiming to completely neutralize its base.
