Israel to Open Skies for Stranded Citizens
4 Mar
Summary
- Israel plans to partially reopen airspace for stranded nationals.
- Operations at Ben Gurion Airport to resume gradually.
- Up to 10,000 stranded Israelis could return daily.

Israel is set to partially reopen its airspace to facilitate the return of its citizens stranded abroad. This decision comes as a response to the significant number of Israelis left overseas since the start of the conflict on Saturday.
According to transport officials, the airspace could be opened as early as Wednesday night, with operations at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv resuming gradually. Initially, flights will be restricted to arrivals only, with plans to allow one to two planes per hour, potentially accommodating up to 10,000 passengers daily.
The Ministry of Transport estimates that all Israelis currently stranded abroad could be brought back to the country within a ten-day period. This measure is intended to support the large population, estimated at over 100,000 individuals, who have been unable to return home.
