Indian Youths Die in Russian Conflict After Job Scams

Kumhariya village in Fatehabad is mourning the deaths of two young men, Vijay and Ankit Jangra, who had gone to Russia seeking employment. Vijay's body was repatriated and cremated on Wednesday, just days after Ankit met a similar fate, leaving the village in shock.
Their families claim both youths were ensnared by an overseas job racket. Vijay departed in June 2025, lured by promises of a high-paying security guard role. Ankit had initially gone to study Russian before taking up work.
Family members recounted being made to sign documents in Russian, receiving rudimentary weapons training, and subsequently being compelled to join the conflict. Despite appeals to embassies and ministries, their sons did not survive.
Villagers noted that Vijay had previously returned from Russia after successful earnings, which had encouraged others. This time, however, the same path led to profound sorrow.
