Seafarer's Death Sparks Safety Plea to PM

The village of Bhalu in Hamirpur observed a somber atmosphere as the body of 23-year-old deck cadet Aditya Sharma arrived on Thursday. Sharma was among three Indian crew members who lost their lives when the US military struck the Palau-flagged oil tanker MT Settebello in the Gulf of Oman on June 10.
Aditya's remains reached Hamirpur on Wednesday night and were processed through a post-mortem examination on Thursday morning before being handed over to his grieving family. Hundreds of villagers attended his funeral, bidding a final farewell to the well-mannered young man.
His father, Rajesh Sharma, expressed his profound grief and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government to ensure the safety of Indian sailors serving in international waters. The Hamirpur deputy commissioner assured the family of government support and assistance, stating that the Chief Minister had issued special instructions.
Out of 24 Indian crew members on board the vessel, 21 were rescued following the incident. The tragedy has underscored the risks faced by seafarers and led to a heartfelt plea for greater security measures.
