India Clears Rs 1.10 Lakh Crore Military Upgrade

The approved acquisitions span a wide array of essential equipment. The Indian Army is set to receive chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) reconnaissance vehicles, high-mobility vehicles, and advanced light helicopters. Additionally, mechanical mine-laying systems and bridge-building equipment will bolster its logistical and tactical maneuverability.
The Indian Navy will acquire Arudhra radars to improve air surveillance at its naval stations and Marine Gas Turbines for warship propulsion, reducing reliance on foreign suppliers. The Indian Air Force's procurement includes advanced jammers to disrupt enemy radar systems and upgrades for its fighter aircraft and transport fleets.
A remarkable aspect of this procurement package is its strong emphasis on indigenous manufacturing. Approximately 98% of the approved acquisitions are slated to be sourced from the domestic defense industry, fostering self-reliance and boosting the Indian economy.
